It was established in 1946 following the example of the French State Council, and the law governing it now is Law No. 47 of 1972. It is one of the pillars of the judicial authority in Egypt and is exclusively concerned with adjudicating administrative disputes and implementation disputes. related to all its provisions. It also specializes in adjudicating disciplinary cases and appeals. It alone undertakes fatwas on legal matters for the bodies specified by the law, reviewing and drafting draft laws and decisions of a legislative nature, and reviewing draft contracts to which the state or a public body is a party. The Egyptian State Council is the pioneer of the administrative judiciary.
